What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha yoga refers to the physical practice of yoga which includes asanas or postures. Postures are practiced in sequences designed to open the body so energy can flow more freely.

What is Iyengar Yoga?

Iyengar yoga emphasizes alignment and the use of props such as blocks, belts, mats, bolsters and blankets to support the body. Correct alignment in poses opens up the body and frees up the breath. Iyengar yoga’s emphasis on correct alignment and sequencing of asanas (postures) has been proven to be very therapeutic.

What does Namaste mean?

Namaste is an acknowledgment that there is a divine spark within each of us. Namaste is considered a form of respect between teacher and student. Namaste is usually included at the end of class. Namaste is expressed with the hand pressing lightly together in front of the heart.

If I am not feeling well should I come to class?

Come to class as long as you are not running a fever or contagious in any way. Let your teacher know what you are experiencing and they will modify poses to support you.

Do I have to wait until the beginning of an 8-week session to start class?

You are welcome to join us for class at any time during an 8-week session. Class fees are either prorated or a drop in fee will apply depending on the number of weeks left in the session.

What happens if I miss a class during the 8-week session?

You may make up the class in any other class of that same level. Classes must be made up during the same 8-week session.
